CRUMPLE ZONES
Front and rear crumple zones. Crumple zones absorb impact energy. This reduces forces on the body, helping to prevent
injury.
A structural "safety cage" protects the passenger area.
- For added protection, each
door is reinforced with side-impact door beams, and the unibody construction is engineered with high-tensile steel
for optimum structural integrity.

SEATBELT PRETENSIONERS
- Tucson's front standard seatbelt
pretensioners tighten the driver and front passenger shoulder belts during a frontal impact. This reduces the occupant's
forward movement and helps position them for optimal effectiveness of the airbags.

SIX AIRBAGS
The Tucson's standard airbag
system includes dual front airbags and front seat-mounted side-impact airbags, plus front and rear roof-mounted
side-curtain airbags.
- Data from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety indicates that there is a 45% reduction in fatalities from
side-impact collisions when vehicles are equipped with the combination of side-impact airbahs and head protecting
side curtain airbags.

STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY
- We built the Tucson with a
reinforced unibody construction. We also engineered it with rear crumple zones, bodyside reinforcements, and hood
buckling creases to protect you in an impact from any direction.
- Tucson has received the U.S. government's highest crash rating of 5 stars for both front and side impact collisions.

ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM (ABS)
- The Tucson is equipped with
a standard Electronic 4-wheel, 4-channel, 4-sensor Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution
(EBD) and Brake Assist.
